Macy’s Flower Show ART IN BLOOM Opens Sunday

Macys Flower Show Art in Bloom Minneapolis

Tonight I had a sneak preview of the Macy’s Flower Show at Macy’s Downtown Minneapolis 8th Floor Auditorium. I have to say that we are so lucky to be in one of the five cities where Macy’s puts on a flower show and that we have local Bachman’s to create the fabulous display.

This year’s theme is Art in Bloom with 11 gorgeous gardens each inspired by a different genre of art such as Impressionism, Abstract and Renaissance. This year they have also incorporated technology for a few special effects that add another dimension to the show. These include projected images on a replica of Michelangelo’s David via pixel mapping, a partnership with the Artista Impresso by JixiPix app, and more.

During the flower show there is also a full list of events including floral arranging and painting classes, the artist marketplace, Family Fun Day, cooking demos and more. I highly recommend the demo with Macy’s very own Chef Marie Hanson at noon on March 23. She is awesome! See the full list of events here.

Free Advance Screening of DreamWorks HOME Saturday

Dreamworks Home Poster

HOME from DreamWorks looks like it is going to be so cute! Not to mention the fact that one of my favorite TV actors, Jim Parsons from The Big Bang Theory voices the role of Oh, the alien.

When Oh, a loveable misfit from another planet, lands on Earth and finds himself on the run from his own people, he forms an unlikely friendship with an adventurous girl named Tip who is on a quest of her own. Through a series of comic adventures with Tip, Oh comes to understand that being different and making mistakes is all part of being human. And while he changes her planet and she changes his world, they discover the true meaning of the word HOME.

There will be a FREE advance screening to see HOME this Saturday, March 21 at Showplace ICON in St. Louis Park at 10am. To download a family four pack of passes click HERE (while supplies last). Seating is based on first-come, first-served, so it is recommended to arrive early.

Free Advanced Screening of Disney’s ALEXANDER and the….

Screen Shot 2014-08-07 at 3.57.38 PM I think this movie looks like it is going to be SO FUN!!  ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY has been a favorite children’s book for a loooooooong time and now it will be coming to the big screen in about a week!!  You can see it early and get up to four passes to attend an advance screening this Saturday, 10/4 at 10am at AMC Rosedale. Passes can be download via the following link while supplies last: http://www.seeitfirst.net/pin/859168

*Please note that the theater is overbooked to ensure full capacity and seats aren’t guaranteed. Arrive early to secure your seats.

Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”follows the exploits of 11-year-old Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life—a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another. But when Alexander tells his upbeat family about the misadventures of his disastrous day, he finds little sympathy and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him. He soon learns that he’s not alone when his mom (Jennifer Garner), dad (Steve Carell), brother (Dylan Minnette) and sister (Kerris Dorsey) all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Anyone who says there is no such thing as a bad day just hasn’t had one.

“Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” directed by Independent Spirit Award-winner Miguel Arteta (“The Good Girl,” “Cedar Rapids,” “Youth in Revolt”) from a screenplay by Rob Lieber, is a 21 Laps Entertainment/Jim Henson Company production. The film hits theaters nationwide Oct. 10, 2014.
