This past weekend, we joined lots of Thrifty Minnesota readers for the Minneapolis Mini Premiere of Kung Fu Panda 3, which will be coming to theaters on January 29. There was lots of fun to be had with balloon creations, face painting and panda ears for the kids.
The premiere featured local celebrities posing on the red carpet. On hand were Nicole Jennings (founder of One Posh Closet), Greg Jennings (Former Vikings Player), Nicholas David (The Voice), Raven (KDWB Deejay) and Ashley DuBose (American Idol Season 15). To add to the festivities there was a live stream of footage from the Los Angeles Kung Fu Panda premiere hosted by Cameron Mathison on the GREEN carpet!
At the premiere I had a chance to talk with Nicole Jennings, founder of the local one-of-a-kind boutique One Posh Closet (formerly The Posh Mommy). Nicole, the wife of former Vikings player Greg Jennings, created the boutique with the significant others, wives and girlfriends of America’s best professional athletes to share their top-of-the-line designer items for at reasonable prices for the benefit of charity. At the premiere event, attendees were encouraged to bring new and gently used children’s clothing to donate to children at their January charity organization AGAPE OASIS. AGAPE OASIS’ mission is to serve families with 24-hour accredited childcare, parent empowerment, domestic violence counseling and support, and community outreach.
Then it was on to the movie itself, which we LOVED! In this all-new adventure, Po’s long-lost panda father suddenly reappears and the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters. But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible — learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas!
Kung Fu Panda 3, the latest addition to one of the most successful animated franchises in the world, stars Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, James Hong, Randall Duk Kim, Bryan Cranston, J. K. Simmons and Kate Hudson.
