Participate in sensory friendly activities at the Walker Art Center on the second Sunday of each month.
The Walker Art Center has joined other museums and venues by adding some Sensory Friendly Sunday Events. The next event is scheduled for Sunday, January 14, 2024.
In January, explore the exhibitions Multiple Realities: Experimental Art in the Eastern Bloc, 1960s–1980s, Five Ways In: Themes from the Collection, Make Sense of This: Visitors Respond to the Walker’s Collection, and Among Friends: The Generosity of Judy and Ken Dayton.
Sensory Friendly Sunday, held on the second Sunday of each month, is a free event for kids, teens, and adults with sensory processing differences, autism spectrum disorder, or developmental disabilities.
From 8 am to 11 am on the second Sunday of the month, the galleries will be closed to the general public, allowing visitors to enjoy the museum in a calm environment with accommodations such as quiet spaces, fidgets, and sunglasses available.
To support the health and safety of visitors at increased risk for COVID-19, masks are required at Sensory Friendly Sunday for visitors over age 2. Accommodations are available if someone in your party is unable to tolerate masking. Please email access@walkerart.org or call 612-375-7561 for more information.
Admission is free. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are encouraged.
Experience current Walker exhibitions, create your own artwork, or watch a short, family friendly film.
