Ready to step back in time and visit a Swedish gammelgården, or old farm in Scandia? You can during the Season Opening Day on Saturday, May 2nd!
Have you ever been to Scandia? Located around 45 minutes away from the Twin Cities, it’s a fun getaway taking you back to a previous time. A must stop during your visit to Scandia is the Gammelgården Museum! During Covid Days, I’d bring my kiddos here quite often to visit the buildings, play in the park and find the dala horse statues!
All are welcome at the 2026 Season Opening Day on Saturday, May 2nd! There’s fun for the whole family from 10am – 4pm. Besides the amazing museum and buildings to explore, there will be an Arts, Crafts, and Vendor Fair, artist demonstrations, a Kids Entrepreneur Market, games, temporary tattoos for kids, beverages for purchase and local food trucks will be on site.
Don’t miss the 1pm presentation by Living History Society of Minnesota about historic clothing and fashion from the 1800s! That sounds like an interesting learning opportunity! Best of all– the museum is sensory-friendly. There are Sensory Kits available for adults or children to use during their time at the museum.
The Gammelgården Museum of Scandia is located at 20880 Olinda Trail North in Scandia, MN. Don’t forget to take a picture with the Dala Horse statues when you visit!
