Don’t miss your chance at an epic selfie with the Jolly Green Giant in Blue Earth, Minnesota! Then head inside the museum and check out the largest collection of Jolly Green Giant memorabilia in the world!
I don’t know why, but I absolutely love roadside attractions! Whenever we take road trips, I always try to find one or two quirky stops along the way. This spring we made a stop at the Jolly Green Giant in Blue Earth, Minnesota.
The Jolly Green Giant came to be in the 1920s as the iconic, towering, green-skinned mascot for the vegetable brand Green Giant. This statue was built in 1978 and placed in Blue Earth. He is 55 1/2 feet tall, weighs 8,000 pounds, wears a 78 size shoe and is made entirely of fiberglass!
The Jolly Green Giant’s pint-sized sidekick, the Little Green Sprout can be found all over the town of Blue Earth. You can pick up your Little Sprouts Scavenger Hunt at the Museum— find all 24 Little Sprout Statues and come back for a special prize!
Besides the epic statues, there’s a fun Jolly Green Giant Museum with the largest collection of Jolly Green Giant memorabilia in the world! A nice gift shop, Minnesota tourist information, a corn play table and clean restrooms round out the building. I always appreciate the chance to stop at clean restrooms!
They are also hoping to build a Giant Park Playground in the future. That will really make this the perfect roadtrip stop for the whole family!
The Jolly Green Giant Statue and Museum are located at 1134 Giant Drive, Blue Earth, Minnesota. The Museum is open 9am to 6pm every day in the summer, with special closures on July 4th, September 6th and 7th.
So, if you ever happen to be driving north/south on 169 between Mankato and the Iowa border, or east/west on I-90 between Rochester and Sioux Falls, be sure to make a stop!

Or, if you’re just looking for a fun and unique day trip in Southern Minnesota, visit Blue Earth and our big friend, the Jolly Green Giant!
