My husband and I LOVE to visit county fairs. While I grew up in rural Minnesota, he’s from the Bronx, NY. I love visiting county fairs because they bring me back to childhood and make me feel connected to my roots.
He loves visiting county fairs because it’s a whole new experience for him, and it offers a great way to experience the Minnesota tradition of county fairs and get an up-close look at all things related to that traditional farm way of life.
The livestock exhibitions and horse shows are wins for both of us.
We also like to look at all entries for judging in both 4-H and open classes, including produce, home cooking, handicrafts, art, sewing, science projects, and everything else.
And of course, there’s the fair food! Each county fair seems to have its own specialties, whether it’s a great food stand by the local 4-H, Lion’s Club, or other organization, or your basic mini donuts and corn dogs at a carnival stand.
You can also find music, grandstand performances, tractor pulls, demolition derbys, auto racing, kids’ activities, talent shows, parades, commercial exhibits, vendors, rides, and games, and so much more at county fairs.

🐴🐴We go to 3 mn county fairs a summer- great events- cheaper but great food
Top co fairs are Rice County and Steele County mn
Problem with the list here are few fairs listing daily schedules on their sites – and fewer horse shows
Takes awhile to locate which ones to visit
