The Pine Island Cheese Festival is June 5th- 8th and it’s so much more than cheese! It’s fun for the whole family with a carnival, live music, food and more!
Pine Island is located 60 minutes southeast of the Twin Cities on the way to Rochester. They have been hosting the Pine Island Cheese Festival for 88 years! What started as a small celebration of cheese has turned into a weekend jam packed with fun for the whole family.
There is so much going on Friday, June 5th- Sunday, June 8th. We are going to highlight a few events that are perfect for families and free or almost free.
Pine Island Area History Center is open during the entire Cheese Festival and has free admission.
The Pine Island Duck Race is a yearly tradition happening Friday, June 7th at 7pm. Ducks cost $3 day of– the first duck to cross the finish line wins $100 and the LAST duck to cross the finish line wins $50! Ducks are only $2/each when you purchase ahead on the event website.

Friday night there are fireworks at dusk. Saturday is Kids Day with Miss Angie’s Place. It’s $10/child or $25/max family. There’s face painting, a petting zoo, a bounce house, arts & crafts, games and more!
The Pine Island Carnival Midway can get expensive, but the best deal is the $30 wristband for unlimited rides, either Friday 5pm – 10pm or Saturday 12 – 5pm. You can purchase ahead on the event website for only $25!
Sunday at 1pm, the Cheese Festival Grand Parade is the final hurrah of the festival. Featuring firetrucks, local business floats, tractors, school buses, horses and more!
