Cars are taking over the Minnesota Fairgrounds for Back to the 50s Weekend June 20th- 22nd!
2025 marks the 51st year that the Minnesota Street Rod Association’s “Back to the Fifties Weekend” will again fill the Minnesota State Fairgrounds with nearly 10,000+ street rods, customs, classics, and restored vehicles, all dating from 1964 and earlier. I remember my dad used to love this going to this show with his buddies!
You can plan to see hundreds of cars, check out the vendor fair, visit the swap meet, join in the kids activities, listen to live music both Friday and Saturday nights and much more! New this year– Minnesota Street Rod Association is thrilled to serve as the Official Start location of the 2025 Hemmings Great Race.
What is the Hemmings Great Race? The Great Race is a competitive, controlled-speed endurance road rally on public highways. The Great Race is not a test of top speed, but rather a test of the teams’ and drivers’ ability to follow precise course instructions and the cars (and teams) ability to endure on a cross-country trip.
MSRA Back to the Fifties will welcome 130 teams of antique, vintage, and collector cars as they begin to arrive at the Fairgrounds on Saturday morning.
A ceremony will take place at 11:45 a.m., leading into the Official Start of The Great Race at noon from the Fairgrounds’ main gate at Dan Patch & Snelling. The teams will then embark on the nine-day, 2,300+ mile race, finishing in Irmo, South Carolina. So you can see them in action as they hit the road on their first day!
Back to the 50s is located at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. The hours are Friday, June 20th through Sunday, June 22nd Friday and Saturday: 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Sunday: 6 a.m. – 3 p.m. Tickets at the door are $15, kids are free with a paying adult! Save $2 on tickets in advance at at participating NAPA Auto Parts stores.
There’s also FREE Metro Transit bus rides all weekend long! All you need to do is fill out a quick survey and download your free bus pass. Click on the day of your visit– Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
