Have you ever been to an ice castle? They’re a winter wonder and a fun thing to do during cold weather. We’ve always have a fun time exploring and checking them out and marveling at the beautiful ice formations.
The Ice Castles at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds just opened this week. It’s about an acre in size and consists of more than 25 million pounds of ice sculpted by artisans. There are LED lights frozen into the ice so visitors can enjoy the lights day AND night! It truly is a beautiful sight to see.
Here’s what you can expect– ice slides, crawl tunnels, ice archways, ice sculptures and a frosty ice bar for the adults to enjoy. Just be sure to bundle up and wear good boots- it’s cold and slippery, but so worth it to visit!
I think my favorite thing about the Ice Castles is going twice– once during the day with my entire family and another time later with my husband for a date night. The Ice Castles are absolutely beautiful with all the LED lights on!
