Lunar New Year is almost here. Celebrate with various events happening throughout Minnesota!

2025 is the year of the Snake! We created a big list of Lunar New Year events happening around Minnesota and we sorted them alphabetically by city. Check out the list below and figure out the best time to celebrate!
Bloomington
Lunar New Year on Saturday, February 1st and Sunday, February 2nd
Our annual Lunar New Year festivities are open to everyone and include artistic performances, cultural presentations and fascinating activities — plus special décor and photo backdrops to mark the occasion.
The Lunar New Year Celebration takes place in Huntington® Bank Rotunda from 12:30 – 5:30 p.m. on February 1 + 2, 2025. Plus, be sure to visit the North Atrium for our Lunar New Year display February 1 – 28, 2025. We hope you can join us to celebrate the Year of the Snake!
Minneapolis
Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, January 25th and Sunday, January 26th
Join us for our 3rd Annual Lunar New Year Celebration at Arbeiter Brewing Co! We’ll have some fun cultural events, great food, kids’ activities, and special beer releases!
Lunar New Year on Saturday, January 25th
Midtown Global Market will host a free, family-friendly event to celebrate the 2025 Lunar New Year on Saturday, January 25 from Noon to 2 p.m. The Market’s Central Court will feature traditional dances and music, as well as kids’ crafts. Visitors can also stop by Pham’s Rice Bowl for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate with food purchase.
This year, we embrace the Year of the Snake – a symbol of wisdom, intuition, and transformation. It’s the perfect time for new beginnings, letting go of the past, and stepping forward with confidence.
Lunar New Year on Saturday, February 1st
Fulton’s Lunar New Year Celebration at Pershing Rec Center from 11am -2pm is open to all ages / everyone and our event promotes cultural awareness and diversity through community building and educational activities. We will be offering: food demonstrations, how to play Mahjong, arts & crafts, inclusive children’s story time in English / Chinese ages 0-5, photo booth station, scavenger hunt with a “Hongbao” / red envelope, make your own marble fan (15yrs+), food trucks (Hana Bistro) and more!
The food demonstrations are first come, first serve with limited tasting samples. Pre-registration is suggested to help understand attendance numbers but not required.
Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, February 8th
Celebrate the Year of the Snake at Orchestra Hall as we gather together with family and friends to share music that honors family traditions and themes of unity and health. The show starts at 7pm, is 2 hours including intermission, and tickets start at $41.
Minnetonka
Vietnamese New Year 2025 on Sunday, January 19th
From 2-3:30pm head to the Ridgedale Public Library to celebrate the Year of the Snake by learning the history, meaning, and process of various rituals during the new year celebration. Listen to traditional Vietnamese songs and Vietnamese drums, watch traditional dances including the dragon dance and lion dance, observe a Kung-Fu presentation and food demonstration of Bánh Chưng and Bánh Tét (sticky rice cakes), create a wooden snake self-painting, decorate a red envelope (Lì xì), play Bau, cua, ca, cop (traditional dice game), along with a New Year’s Eve and Tết ceremony.
Plymouth
Chinese New Year on Saturday, January 25th
Celebrate the Year of the Snake with Luce Line Brewing and the Chinese Heritage Foundation from 1-5pm. Join in for an amazing day as we transform our taproom and explore Chinese culture at this family friendly event!

Chinese New Year Celebration on Wednesday, January 29th
Chinese New Year falls on Wednesday, January 29th. This year is the year of the snake. Join us to learn about Chinese New Year and some interesting snake facts. A snack will be served. Yes, snack, not snake! Held at Northrop Community Education Center : Rm 201 from 6-7pm. Price is $7, advance registration required.
St. Paul
Lunar New Year Festival on Saturday, January 25th
Come join the Minnesota Vietnamese Language School for our Tết festival 11am -3pm with opportunities to connect with family and friends, receive lì xì (red envelopes), enjoy entertainment featuring traditional music and dance, Vietnamese pop, and lion dances. As always, enjoy and savor Vietnamese foods. Come celebrate with us to bring good luck and prosperity for the new year!
White Bear Lake
Seollal Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, February 1st
Join us for a celebration of Korean culture & community including Korean food, Korean Vendor Market and FREE Jang-mi Korean Dance, Drum & Music performance at White Bear Lake Area High School from 11am-3:30pm.
