Lunar New Year is almost here. Celebrate with various events happening throughout Minnesota!

2026 is the year of the Horse! We created a list of Lunar New Year events happening around Minnesota and we sorted them alphabetically by city. Check out the list below and figure out the best time to celebrate!
Bloomington
Celebrate Lunar New Year with Mall of America® on Saturday, February 21st and Sunday, February 22nd
Our annual Lunar New Year festivities are open to everyone and include artistic performances, cultural presentations and fascinating activities — plus special décor and photo backdrops to mark the occasion.
The Lunar New Year Celebration presented by Niko Niko Boba takes place in Huntington® Bank Rotunda from 12:30 – 5:30 p.m. on February 21 + 22, 2026. Plus, be sure to visit the North Atrium for our Lunar New Year display January 22 – February 28, 2026. We hope you can join us to celebrate the Year of the Horse!
Edina
The Lunar New Year Celebration at Edina High School is Saturday, February 28th from 11am- 2pm. Tickets are $10/attendee.
Ticket price includes:
– Yummy traditional food from local small businesses Welwe Tasty Healthy Dumplings, Great Wall Chinese Restaurant, and Yangtze Restaurant (Discounted tickets are available for those fasting in observance of Ramadan.)
– Fun activities like calligraphy, origami, and fan art
– A mid-event intermission that includes our Youth Lion Parade, Middle School Chinese Choir, and Performance by Hong De Wu Guan Lion Dancers
– Concord Elementary School teacher Mrs. Nguyen Dang will be recognized as our 2025 Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Educator of the Year
– Hear from student clubs: EHS AAPISU (Asian American Pacific Islander Student Union), EHS Chinese Club, EHS BSU (Black Student Union), and other school, community, and city leadership!
Additional games created by AAPISU and Taiwanese desserts (Zoe Liu) for purchase! This event, co-hosted by EAAA (Edina Asian American Alliance), EHS AAPISU (Asian American Pacific Islander Student Union), and EHS Chinese Club, will be our third LNY celebration together!
Family friendly. All are welcome. Let’s be in joyful community together, to celebrate and be empowered.
Minneapolis
Fulton Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, February 28th from 11am – 2pm

Chinese New Year on Saturday, February 21st from 1-5pm
Celebrate the Year of the Snake with Luce Line Brewing and the Chinese Heritage Foundation from 1-5pm. Join in for an amazing day as we transform our taproom and explore Chinese culture at this family friendly event!

Join Plymouth Covenant Church on Sunday, February 22 from 4-7 p.m., for an evening filled with music, dance, calligraphy and history as we celebrate together. The Lunar New Year Celebration itself is free but if you’d like to enjoy Chinese food beforehand, it’s just $5 per adult, and kids 12 and under eat free. All are welcome to join us for a fun, joyful night!
Roseville
Celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse with vibrant festivities and special experiences at Lunar New Year at Rosedale Center on Saturday, February 28th.
Visit a stunning Lunar New Year display and photo op in East Court, which captures the energy and beauty of this holiday. Create your own floral arrangement at our Hope Flower Bar, savor authentic tea varieties during Niko Niko’s sampling experience, and challenge friends to an exciting table tennis tournament courtesy of Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Enjoy free festive fun for all ages, including:

St. Cloud
Join us at Madison Elementary School for the Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration on Friday, February 20th from 5:30-7:30pm. There will be activities including: printmaking, calligraphy, Chinese sports, photo booth, chopsticks, mooncakes, karaoke and tea tasting. There will be student performances by Deema Cheng’s Kung Fu Studio, a silent auction to raise funds for the 8th grade Capstone trip to China and food for purchase from Viet-Flavor, Happy Thyme and Munch Munch Mochi Donuts. Event is free but donations are accepted.
