Head to Mendota Heights for Winter Whirl (formally Frozen Fun Fest) for free ice fishing, a petting zoo, cardboard sled derby, a puzzle competition, craft supply swap and more on February 5th- 8th, 2026!
There sure are a lot of fun winter festivals taking place in the Twin Cities. Mendota Heights Winter Whirl at Rogers Lake Park looks like a great time! On Friday, February 7th, there will be ice skating loop on the lake, free Learn to Ice Fish lessons, a petting zoo, bonfires, a cardboard sled derby, and more — I’m sure there will be something for your whole family to enjoy!
On Thursday, February 5th from 6-8pm you can participate in the Winter Whirl: Art & Craft Supply Swap! Bring the gently used creative supplies you no longer want to our swap event and bring home items that are new to you.
No item donation is necessary to shop the swap. Please ensure that any items you bring are in fair and usable condition. Leftover items will be distributed for reuse by the city’s recycling coordinator. Event staff reserve the right to refuse any items. Please, no scraps or partially completed projects. Donations/swap items will be accepted starting at 4pm that evening!
On Sunday, February 8th, you can join in the Puzzle Competition!
The annual puzzle competition is back, with high quality, tested puzzles that will make the competition fun for everyone! Registration is required for the puzzle competition and opens Monday, January 5 at 8:00 AM. Session 1 & 2 features fun for adult teams, while session 3 features fun for family teams with kids 12 and under.
