Based on the book with same title, Milo Imagines the World follows Milo on a subway ride in New York with his sister. As the ride continues, Milo learns that there is much more to other people than what’s displayed on the surface.
My son and I were gifted tickets to see the world premiere of Milo Imagines the World at Children’s Theatre Company this past weekend. We always get so excited to see new works at at Children’s Theatre Company and Milo Imagines the World was no exception!
The three creators of Milo Imagines the World (Terry Guest, Christian Albright and Christian Magby) created a incredibly moving musical filled with touching moments and lots of humor. My son and I were both instantly captivated by Milo’s story, the amazing sets (the subway actually MOVES), the fun costumes, the props, the catchy songs and more.
I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but there were extremely funny moments and also extremely moving moments. Watching Milo Imagines the World is truly a captivating journey for audience members!
Milo Imagines the World is around 65 minutes with no intermission. While both my son and I were sad for the show to end, it dawned on me this would be a great opportunity for younger audiences to see a shorter show in the larger theatre: the UnitedHealth Group Stage. Children’s Theatre Company states the show is best for ages 7 and up, we saw a few younger kids at the performance we attended and everyone seemed to enjoy it.
Children’s Theatre Company is known for its wonderful show resources and Milo Imagines the World has a fun audience guide. With a plot summary, content advisories (with spoilers), activities, games and more, the audience guide is a great resource to utilize before and after the show.
