Four times a year the Minnesota Historical Society hosts a free admission day featuring historical sites and museums in the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota.
Do you enjoy learning about the history of Minnesota? Then we have a thrifty tip for you! Every quarter, the Minnesota Historical Society hosts a free Saturday where all their historical sites and museums are free! Coming up is the Spring Free Admission Day on Saturday, April 26th, 2025.

Twin Cities Metro Area Locations
- Historic Fort Snelling, St. Paul
- James J. Hill House, St. Paul (Special hours: 11am – 5pm. Self-guided tours only. Due to an event, Summit Avenue is closed early morning but will reopen. Expect increased traffic in the area through 1pm)
- Mill City Museum, Minneapolis (Flour Tower tours not available)
- Minnesota History Center, St. Paul
- Oliver Kelley Farm, Elk River (Spring Cleaning Day on the Farm)
Greater Minnesota Area Locations
- Historic Forestville, Preston
- Lower Sioux Agency, Morton
- Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Trading Post, Onamia
- Split Rock Lighthouse, Two Harbors
