Don’t miss your chance to see the World Premier Play: Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dress at Children’s Theatre Company now through November 19th!
Morris Micklewhite is a curious and imaginative little boy. He finds a tangerine dress in the dress-up box at school and wants to wear it because it “reminds him of tigers, the sun, and his mother’s hair.” When other kids at the school bully Morris for his choice of outfit, Morris travels the galaxy in search of an answer to the all-important question: “Do astronauts wear dresses?”
My son and I got the opportunity to see Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dress this weekend- thank you, CTC, for the tickets! The play is based on the book of the same name. We were captivated by the amazing actors on stage, the beautiful staging, the energetic music, the captivating lighting and more.
Most importantly, this play gave us a lot to talk about. Sometimes as a parent, it is hard to cross everything off your list each day. There’s endless laundry, dishes, homework help, etc. When do you make time for important conversations?
I loved most that Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dress was a perfect conduit to talk about bullying, being different and having your own ideas. As we drove home from the theatre, the car ride was filled with chatter about the play: the actors, our favorite moments, but also about those big ideas. If you are looking for a way to connect with your kiddo, this play could be the perfect communication tool for your family as well.
Children’s Theatre recommends Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dress for ages 4 and up, but there are a small number of lap passes for children 18 months and younger. The play was 50 minutes long with no intermission. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase in the lobby, but only drinks are allowed in the theatre. Tickets start at $15 and are available on the Children’s Theatre Company website.
If you have a chance to see Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dress, let us know what you think in the comments!
