Interested in learning more about the birthplace of Minnesota? You can get a good dose of history during a Stillwater Trolley Historic Tour!
I’ve been on the Stillwater Storytime Trolley now several years in a row and I absolutely love going with my family! This year I got to wondering about the other tours that Stillwater Trolley offers and decided it was time to check one out!
I’m not a history buff by any means, but the Historic Tour caught my attention. A 45 minute trolley ride filled with Stillwater and Minnesota history? Sign me up! I knew Stillwater was the birthplace of Minnesota but that was about it!
Keep in mind this tour is not recommended for young children. It’s fully narrated during the 45 minutes and our tour guide asked us to hold our questions until the end. Full disclosure, I did bring along my 10 year old, but I was glad I didn’t bring along my younger two kids!
During the tour we learned more about Stillwater, it’s early beginnings, the historic lift bridge, the lumber barons, house architecture and so much more! Our tour guide also added in some folklore stories and funny jokes– overall it was interesting and fun!
I did wish it lasted longer than 45 minutes, but that timing was a good amount if you also want to do other things in Stillwater. There’s so much to do, like shop the cute local stores in the downtown, walk across the lift bridge, grab a tasty meal and more!
It’s easy to book your tickets right on the Stillwater Trolley website. General admission is $16, seniors 66 and over and military are $14 and children 15 and under are $8. This tour is not recommended for kids ages 3 and under.
The trolley ride lasts 45 minutes and they have tons of tour time options! From May to October the tour times are Monday – Friday, 11:00 and 2:00, Saturday – 11:15am, 2:00 and 3:30, Sunday – 12:00pm and 2:00.
