The Minnesota Fiber Festival kicks off this weekend in a new location, so don’t miss out on dozens of local fiber and yarn vendors along with classes, demonstrations, and more!
Minnesota Fiber Festival
On October 17th, the Minnesota Fiber Festival will host vendors from all over Minnesota. Other than local Minnesotan yarn and fibers, there will also be knitting patterns, spindles and spinning accessories, handwoven baskets, locally grown honey, and much more!
The festival will also host classes and demonstrations, as well as activities for children and food. The festival runs from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM at its new location in Isanti Middle School in Isanti, MN.
Parking will be at a bit of a premium, but they have arranged overflow parking at the rodeo grounds behind the primary school, just a 5-minute drive away, and a shuttle service to the Middle School door. Attendees can park at the rodeo grounds and hop on the fully accessible shuttle to the Festival. It will run all day, and there will be plenty of room for purchases! The festival will also have lots of signs and maps.
Classes
The Fiber Festival is also offering craft classes with pre-registration online! They offer classes with topics ranging from knitting to how to manage sheep; get your tickets before they sell out!
Some of the classes include the ancient craft of nailbinding, spinning, lambing, tapestry weaving, drop spindling and more!
Demonstrations
There are lots of demonstrations to take in at the festival. One of the most popular is a sheep-herding demo with a team of six border collies.
Learn from lots of crafting demonstrations, including hand carding and spinning, lace making and tatting, and more. You can also see a traditional Mongolian yurt, made of thick felted wool walls wrapped around a collapsible wooden frame, and the Great Wheel – the largest of all spinning wheels.
