Celebrate the middle of winter at Apple Valley’s Mid-Winter Fest Saturday, February 7th.

It’s always fun to find new ways to enjoy the outdoors during the winter. Even better when you can get in on some free family fun! One such event is the Apple Valley Mid-Winter Fest, coming up Saturday, February 7th, 2026 from 9am – 7:15 pm.

This annual festival began in 1978 and has been an Apple Valley tradition ever since! Admission and parking are free, and food and beverages are available for purchase. Remember to dress warm!

Activities and events take place at Johnny Cake Ridge Park. Activities include:
- Snowshoeing
- Horse-drawn wagon rides
- Frozen kite flying
- Ice skating
- Bag toss
- Small hill sledding
- 3-hole disc golf course
- Cart Train Rides
- Recycling Bin Racing
- Fireworks show (7:15pm)
- and more!
Unsure if you will stay warm? Event organizers have thought of a way to warm you up when needed! The Minnesota Valley Transit Authority Warming Bus and hardwood heated fire pits will be available to use during the event.
Interested in starting the morning off searching for a medallion? Register online through the Apple Valley Parks and Recreation Department to be eligible for the $250 prize. A medallion will be hidden in one of Apple Valley’s 52 parks. Clues will be posted on the AV Parks & Recreation Facebook page starting at 9 am.
Prior to the afternoon events, check out a Mite level hockey tournament by the Eastview Hockey Association and Firehawks Hockey.
