Do you want to help create a more bee, bird, and pollinator friendly environment around your own home? Join in at Buzz Fest 2023 and learn about native plants and how you can engage in habitat restoration in your yard, one seedling at a time!
There will be children’s activities, door prizes, sustainability resources, presenters, music, a food truck, Spanish and ASL interpreters, and more at Bloomington’s accessible Moir Park on Saturday, September 16th from 10 am to 1 pm.
Buzz Fest Activities and Presenters
Heather Holm, a nationally known environmentalist and author will lead a pollinator walk.
Nicky Buck, a member of the Prairie Island Dakota Community will lead a plant walk.
The Urban Bird Collective will lead a bird walk.
Andy Scott, of Rewild Native Gardens will give a hands-on demonstration of how to make a pollinator-friendly soft landing for your trees.
Organic Bob will talk about how to convert your lawn to a pollinator friendly bee lawn.
DIY rain barrel kits and pre-made barrels will be available for purchase at cost.
A Master Gardener expert in food preservation can answer all your questions about food preservation.
Come meet the goats! Bloomington Parks and Recreation is using a team of goats to clear the Park of invasive plants. You can learn more about them from a Parks and Rec staff member and watch them do it.
Music will be provided throughout the day by Música Bohemia, with special guest Josué Gonzalez.
Food available from the Tomatillo Mexican Cuisine Food Truck.
