Eighth Grade Movie Advance Screening Thursday

Eighth Grade Elsie Fisher

You’re invited to a special “Parents Night Out” screening of Eighth Grade this Thursday! (And no, you don’t have to be a parent to attend the screening, but the movies is geared to those 17+, so the screening is not for kids.)

I saw the trailer for Eighth Grade last week and immediately thought four things:

  • I have to see this.
  • It’s going to make me laugh.
  • It’s going to make me cry.
  • This movie is going to be BIG!

Check out the trailer below and you’ll likely think similar thoughts:

About Eighth Grade: Thirteen-year-old Kayla endures the tidal wave of contemporary suburban adolescence as she makes her way through the last week of middle school — the end of her thus far disastrous eighth grade year — before she begins high school.

Eighth Grade is written and directed by Bo Burnham and stars Elsie Fisher, Josh Hamilton, Emily Robinson, and Jake Ryan.

SEARCHING Advanced Screening in Roseville

I’m not a fan of horror movies, but I do enjoy a good thriller! That’s what we get with SEARCHING, coming to theaters August 3rd, starring John Cho and Debra Messing.

SEARCHING is a suspense/thriller film that has won the Alfred P. Sloan Prize as well as the NEXT Audience Award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. In the film, after David Kim (John Cho)’s 16-year-old daughter goes missing, a local investigation is opened and a detective is assigned to the case. But 37 hours later and without a single lead, David decides to search the one place no one has looked yet, where all secrets are kept today: his daughter’s laptop. In a hyper-modern thriller told via the technology devices we use every day to communicate, David must trace his daughter’s digital footprints before she disappears forever.

While the movie doesn’t open in theaters until August 3, YOU could see it before then! Download a pair of passes here to see it on June 27 at 7 pm in Roseville at AMC Rosedale. Passes are available to download while supplies last. Be sure to arrive early as seating is on a first come, first served basis.

FREE Screening of Won’t You Be My Neighbor

Fred Rogers

I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the documentary about the life of Mister Rogers,”Won’t You Be My Neighbor“, which comes to theaters everywhere this Friday, June 8th 2018. Like millions of other kids, I grew up with Mister Rogers. I remember sitting cross-legged on the floor in our living room looking up at the small screen (our TV was tiny compared to today’s standards) and being totally engrossed in what Mister Rogers had to say, the stories he brought to life with his puppets and his message that I was special just the way I was.

As an adult, I’m able to look back and see what a truly remarkable person Fred Rogers was and how groundbreaking Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood was as a television show. I do have to admit that when he passed away, I cried like a baby. We need more people like Fred Rogers in the world!

That lifetime of good experiences with Mister Rogers makes me super excited for the release of “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” coming to select theaters on June 8th 2018. I’m hoping the release of “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” makes people remember what an amazing individual Fred Rogers was and inspires many to follow his example.

About the Movie:

For over thirty years, Fred Rogers, an unassuming minister, puppeteer, writer and producer was beamed daily into homes across America.  In his beloved television program, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, Fred and his cast of puppets and friends spoke directly to young children about some of life’s weightiest issues, in a simple, direct fashion. There hadn’t been anything like Mr. Rogers on television before and there hasn’t been since.

In Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, Academy Award-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville (Twenty Feet from Stardom) looks back on the legacy of Fred Rogers, focusing on his radically kind ideas. While the nation changed around him, Fred Rogers stood firm in his beliefs about the importance of protecting childhood. Neville pays tribute to this legacy with the latest in his series of highly engaging, moving documentary portraits of essential American artists.

Free Screening Passes:

Check out the link below for a chance to see WON’T YOU BE MY NEIGHBOR for free! We could all use a little more kindness in our lives – why not learn how to share it with others from Mr. Rogers himself?

The screening is Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at AMC Southdale 16 in Edina.

About the Movie:

Five years, eight months, 12 days…and counting. That’s how long Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock)—just released from prison—has been concocting the greatest heist of her storied career.

She knows what it’s going to take—a team of the best in their field, starting with her former partner-in-crime Lou (Cate Blanchett). Together, they recruit a crew of specialists: jeweler Amita (Kaling); street con Constance (Awkwafina); expert fence Tammy (Paulson); hacker Nine Ball (Rihanna); and fashion designer Rose Weil (Bonham Carter).

The target is $150 million in diamonds—diamonds that will adorn the neck of world-famous actress Daphne Kluger (Hathaway), who will be center stage at the event of the year, the Met Gala.

Their plan appears rock solid, but it will need to be flawless if the team is to get in and get away—all in plain sight.
