It’s time for Christmas in the Village at Dakota City. Located inside the Dakota County Fairgrounds in Farmington.
This special holiday event takes place the first two weekends in December.
This has been an annual event for us for many years. Although last year’s event was drive through only and we all enjoyed it, we are excited to see that it’s returning back to what it was.
This year the buildings are scheduled to be open, decorated and activities will also be back. It’s an event where you can step back in time and wander a bit through the little old fashioned town.
You’ll find a small store, post office, school, as well as a few other buildings. Volunteers are often dressed up in period clothing telling stories and answering questions.
**Also if you would like to volunteer, check here to see if there are opportunities still available. Events like this don’t happen unless people volunteer.
The buildings will be illuminated inside and out throughout the village. You can enjoy a horse drawn trolley ride around the beautifully decorated village.
Write your letter to Saint Nick at home and mail it at our post box outside the Post Office in the village. Be sure to include your self-addressed envelope with stamp so St Nick can send you a reply!
Listen to music at the church, typically various local groups take turns sharing their talent.
