Enchanted Fantasy: Film Museum is located in Maplewood Mall and currently has over 156 costumes on display from movies and TV shows.
Thanks to the museum for providing us with complimentary tickets.
Enchanted Fantasy: Film Museum is the first ever film costume museum in Minnesota and it’s located inside of Maplewood Mall. It features over 156 costumes and props used in movie and tv shows. These aren’t replicas, they are the actual costumes worn by movie and tv stars!
My son and I randomly stumbled upon this museum and decided to check it out. We were pleasantly surprised by how fun it was to check out the costumes and props, and we couldn’t believe how much there was to explore!
Costumes from TV favorites such a Anne with an E, The Magicians, Catherine the Great, Once Upon a Time, The Umbrella Academy and much more were displayed and featured fun facts about the TV shows along with pictures so you could see exactly who wore each costume.
Some of the most well known pieces from movies in the museum include George Weasley’s quidditch robe from Harry Potter, Thing One from Dr. Seuss, and a Compy dinosaur from Jurassic Park. My son’s personal favorite was Thing One and we left with a long list of movies and tv shows to add to our must watch list at home!
We also really enjoyed talking with owner, William Swift. He was full of amazing facts and information about the costumes. He is looking to expand the museum with more costumes and props, so you’ll never know what new treasures you might see when you check out the museum!
Enchanted Fantasy: Film Museum is located on the lower level across from JCPenney at the Maplewood Mall and is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11am – 7pm, Sunday 11am – 5 pm. Admission is $25 for adults, $18 for seniors, $12 for children 5-12 and children under 5 are free. Learn more on their Facebook page.

This might not be the most appropriate place to leave a review of this business, but since I don’t see many other places to do so, I’m leaving this here.
Last weekend my family was at Maplewood Mall. The owner of this museum approached us as we walked by to let us know that, since they were struggling to get people into the museum, they were letting people in for free and accepting donations afterwards. We wouldn’t have paid to go in, so we might not be the target audience. It wasn’t our thing, no big deal. I wouldn’t recommend for very little kids (my three year old was definitively not interested).
Anyway, we get to the end after about 3-4 minutes of cruising through it, and my wife and kid walk out. The owner stops me to ask for a donation, and I say we were not planning on leaving one. Yes, I can be cheap, but like I said it wasn’t our thing. The owner proceeds to tell me the donation is not optional. I said that’s not usually how donations work. He got upset and said ‘we’ll see what your wife things about this’ and storms out of the museum into the mall hallway and asks her for a donation. She was supremely weirded out. She ultimately says she’ll give him three dollars (she later told me it was worth it to get him off of our backs). I then left to chase after our kid and say ‘good luck with the business’, to which the owner replies ‘good luck being an [expletive]’. Really strange guy.
Then fast forward three days, and we check our credit report that he charged us $15.75! We already got it back from the credit company. I feel a little bad for the guy because his business is obviously not doing so well and he put a lot of work into it. Still, given the deceptive tactics and fraud I felt I needed to put my experience out there.
