Experience Christmas as it was celebrated in the past at the Forest City Stockade Pioneer Christmas! This is their 28th annual celebration!
The Forest City Stockade is only open twice year, August and December, and each time of year offers unique fun.
This year’s annual winter event takes place on December 7th and all ages are welcome.
The Stockade is located in Meeker County about 6 miles Northeast of Litchfield and approximately 1/2 mile South of Forest City on Minnesota Highway 24. If you haven’t been to it before, you may want to consider making it an annual event.
This wonderful old fashioned Christmas event is full of activities for the whole family. Some of them include:
- Visit with Santa Claus
- Pioneer crafts
- Sleigh rides
- Pioneer trading post
- Make old-fashioned Christmas ornaments
- Live Christmas music
- Winter encampment with tepee, wall tent and A-frame
- Add to your Willis Chase print collection with print #11 in the series
- Food for purchase (Lefse, Frybread, Cream can stew, Homemade Ice Cream, Old Fashioned Root Beer and more)
Admission is only $5 and 12 and under get in free. A great event for ALL ages it runs from 11am to 5pm. Make sure to dress for the weather as you’ll be spending time outside.
The Stockade is a memorial to the past and a reminder to the future and these events are a way to learn about Minnesota History. Mark your Calendar for August and December and enjoy walking around the past.
