The 16th annual Kids to Parks Day is happening Saturday, May 16th at various parks throughout the nation.
An annual event, celebrated on the third Saturday of May, focuses on the importance of experiencing enjoyment through outdoor play.
Discover and explore the great outdoors through park events. National Kids to Parks Day, which is organized by National Park Trust, is designed to connect kids and their families to memorable experiences found in parks.
This mission is developed through experiences, learn about park stewardship, outdoor recreation, STEM, and the history of our country and its amazing national treasures.

In Minnesota, Kids to Parks Day events are currently planned for Burnsville and East Grand Forks.
Safety Camp in Burnsville

Join us for a full day of hands-on safety education and community connection! Safety Camp gives kids the opportunity to learn important safety skills in a fun, interactive environment while meeting the community helpers who keep Burnsville safe. Participants will rotate through engaging safety stations led by local partners, including animal safety, fire prevention (with the Fire Department smokehouse), ambulance and first aid education, and a live reptile experience. The afternoon will feature a Police Open House with interactive activities and opportunities to explore police equipment and vehicles. Cost $10/child.
Archery in the Parks in East Grand Forks

Archery in the Parks is hands-on instruction shooting a bow from certified instructors in a safe and supportive environment. Aim for family adventure with kid friendly equipment designed for beginners age 8 and older. Children age 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Personal archery equipment is not allowed. All archery programs are free with a Minnesota State Park vehicle entrance permit. Archery area is located in Sherlock Campground across from the playground. There will be two, one hour sessions. 1-2:00 pm Younger kids & first timers. 2-3:00 pm All ages *Must be present for safety information at being of each session to be able to shoot. Event is FREE.
