Head to the shores of Lake Bemidji for their annual Dragon Boat Festival.

If you don’t live near Bemidji, it might be time to plan a road trip. The Lake Bemidji Dragon Boat Festival takes place July 30th – August 2nd.
If you’re not familiar with the sport, Dragon Boat races are a variation of rowing. The game originated in China and is still associated with the traditional Chinese dragon boat festival (Tuen) Festival in Hong Kong.

It’s exciting to watch the teams compete on Lake Bemidji and you can can watch them from an exceptional viewing area

Each day of this popular event is packed with fun. The dragon boat races themselves are the star of the show, but you’ll also find great food, music, kid’s activities, a parade of teams, cultural performances, 5k race/kids fun run and much more all along the shores of beautiful Lake Bemidji.
