Explore Minnesota in a whole new way! The Minnesota Streetcar Lines offer two Kids Club Membership options to check out.
The Minnesota Streetcar Museum runs two streetcar lines in Minneapolis and Excelsior, MN. If you have young children, you will want to look into their Kids Club memberships.
I’m always looking for new adventures for my children, and finding great deals is a plus! While children 3 years of age and under ride free, with the Kids Club membership, your young child can receive a ride on a streetcar too!
There are two Kids Club memberships, based on your child’s age.
Carbarn Club
The Carbarn Club is for kids from 6 to 10 years old. The benefits include 3 free rides with their membership card, when accompanied by an adult. Membership also includes a monthly online newsletter, Carbarn Club Bulletin, with information about club activities, fun facts about streetcars, information about the Museum and cars, and interesting learning projects they for at home. There are exclusive special events just for kids club members. And members and their families will be able to participate in Museum projects on the cars and along the right-of-way.
Clerestory Crew
The Clerestory Crew is for older kids from 11 to 15 years of age. Crew benefits include the monthly online newsletter, Clerestory Crew Bulletin, special hands-on learning sessions, participation in Museum projects, and the opportunity to volunteer for Museum special events.
After “graduating” from the Clerestory Crew, kids 16 and 17 years of age can become Interns and work and learn alongside Museum members in the carbarn and on the streetcars.
Membership in both the Carbarn Club and Clerestory Crew is free. However, kids will need to become Minnesota Streetcar Museum members to participate in all activities on and around the streetcars and carbarn. This membership can be either as a Student, Individual, or under a Family membership.
In Minnesota, there are two Minnesota Streetcar Lines to choose from.
Como-Harriet Streetcar Line
Step back to the days when the streetcar was king — when Twin Citians went to work, to school, and to play by trolley! Visit the historic displays in our station, shop our unique gifts and souvenirs, then take a nostalgic ride on one of our historic streetcars along a scenic route between the lakes. Your Motorman will provide interesting information about the car and Minnesota.
Excelsior Streetcar Line
Enjoy a trip through historic Excelsior along a half-mile of track built on the former right-of-way of the Minneapolis and St. Louis Railway. The car stops at our car barn so passengers can view a photo gallery of hotels, trains, paddlewheel boats and landmarks from the 1800s; history, in pictures, of the Twin Cities Rapid Transit as it ran in Minneapolis and St. Paul; other streetcars in our collection; work in progress of restoring a vintage streetcar.
When selecting a day for your outing, be sure to check the schedule.
