Eco-enthusiasts unite! The Minnesota Zero Waste Coalition is bringing together organizations, families, and changemakers for Zero Waste Fest 2025, an event of repair, reuse, and creativity!
Zero Waste Fest is a community gathering centered around solutions for waste, climate action, and circular systems. Whether you’re just starting to think about reducing waste or already knee-deep in compost bins, there’s something here for you.
I love events like this because they blend purpose with fun! It’s rare to find a place where you can mend your clothes, swap items, AND make something creative (like journals) all in the same day. Plus, meeting people who are passionate about waste reduction always recharges my own energy and ideas.
This is a great way to engage with sustainable living, refresh your wardrobe (without buying new!), and try hands-on crafts that embody the “waste not” spirit. It’s such a great initiative for the planet!

What to Expect
At Zero Waste Fest 2025, you’ll find plenty of hands-on ways to live more sustainably. Take part in the clothing swap and free mending station to refresh your wardrobe without spending a dime, or visit the upcycled journal-making station to turn old magazines, cereal boxes, and scrap paper into something new and creative.
You can also explore panels and presentations on zero waste, recycling, and community-led climate solutions, plus connect with local organizations from across Minnesota’s zero waste network. With family-friendly activities and even a free lunch provided, it’s an inspiring and interactive day designed to show how small actions can make a big difference.
What to Bring + Tips
- Clean clothing or accessories for the swap (gently used and ready to share)
- Items in need of mending (e.g., missing buttons, small tears, or hems welcome!)
- Scrap materials if you’d like to use your own for journal-making (old envelopes, greeting cards, cereal boxes, etc.)
- A reusable water bottle or mug to stay hydrated and keep it zero waste!
- A tote bag or backpack for keeping your new finds!
Bonus Tip: Arrive early for the best clothing swap selections, and be ready to chat with local eco-leaders and creatives. It’s not just a festival, it’s a community movement for our beloved planet!
