Head to the Lake Nokomis Community Center next week to provide your input on trail improvements.
The Nokomis-Hiawatha Trail within the Nokomis-Hiawatha Regional Park is undergoing improvements. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is seeking input to determine the next round of trail connection improvements through an Open House.
Head to the Community Center on Tuesday, July 25th from 6 pm – 8 pm to share your insight. Plan to stop by anytime to learn about proposed trail improvements planned in Nokomis-Hiawatha Regional Park and share your input to help prioritize projects!
Nokomis-Hiawatha Trail Improvement Project:
The Nokomis-Hiawatha Regional Park Master Plan was adopted in 2015. The long-term vision includes improvements at Lake Nokomis, Lake Hiawatha and surrounding parkland and trails.
This project will build as many of the following unfinished, short-term connection improvements as possible under the project budget:
- Connection between the 54th Street E Triangle Park and West Lake Nokomis Parkway
- New trail connection between Edgewater Boulevard//E Lake Nokomis Parkway and Cedar Avenue Bridge
- New pedestrian-only trail loop around Amelia Pond
- Cedar Avenue crossing at 52nd Street
- Cedar Avenue crossing at 50th Street
- Lake Hiawatha pedestrian-only bridge over Minnehaha Creek
A third Open House takes place in August prior to finalizing plans and beginning construction.
