Grab your snowshoes and head to Kraemer Lake – Wildwood County Park for a Snowstomp Saturday, February 18th.
The Wildwood Ranch Snowstomp is Saturday, February 18th from 1pm – 3pm. Located in the Kraemer Lake – Wildwood County Park , you’ll find the Wildwood Ranch Maple Syrup Sugar House at 29709 Kipper Road Saint Joseph, MN 56374.
The snowstomp event signifies the beginning of Maple Syrup Season. Grab your showshoes and make trails through the woods!
At the snowstomp, several people follow in line to pack the snow throughout the woods along the vacuum tubing system. This event allows the team to more easily make repairs and replace taps in the days following the stomp.
There is no need to register for this event. Even more, snacks and refreshments will be provided!
As temperatures start to warm up and we head towards spring, there is a special time to take part in the process of turning maple sap into syrup.
A few years ago, my family and I started to learn more about this process. It truly can be a whole family event! From getting the trees ready, tapping the trees, collecting sap, touring the sugar shacks, and tasting the syrup, it is a neat process to be a part of.
Learning how much work goes into producing maple syrup makes you really appreciate its taste on fresh pancakes, or served up on ice cream!
