Ice fishing sounds a little nuts to people who don’t live in colder climates…you mean, you willingly go out on a frozen lake to sit and fish? But hey – don’t knock it ’til you try it!
If you’ve never been ice fishing, this Sunday is your chance to give it a shot for free. Silverwood Park in St. Anthony (part of Three Rivers Park District) is hosting a Try It: Ice Fishing event on Sunday, January 23 from 1 – 5 pm.
Get an introduction to a favorite Minnesota pastime! Learn the basics of this life-long winter sport including, ice fishing techniques, ice fishing safety, equipment and more. Experienced staff, professionals and community partners will be on hand to show you how it’s done.
This is a hands on event. Practice techniques, learn how to bait a hook, and test out equipment. Warm up by a fire, or try kicksledding. If you want to try ice fishing, but you don’t know how, or you don’t have the equipment, this is the event for you. Don’t miss the fun.
This program is free and open to all ages, no fishing license or registration is required. Parking is limited, so car pooling is encouraged.
