Did you know that Lake City is the birthplace of water skiing? Water skiing was invented by 1922 by Ralph Samuelson, which means it’s been around for almost 100 years!
Lake City is located next to Lake Pepin, which is the widest spot of the Mississippi River. They’ve now been celebrating Water Ski Days for over 50 years!
This year’s events, spanning June 26th to 29th, include live concerts, arts and crafts fair, water ski show (of course!), parade, classic car show, and more.
What to Expect at Water Ski Days 2025
Thrilling Water Ski Shows:
Catch professional ski teams showing off their tricks, stunts, and pyramids in jaw-dropping daily performances. New this year is a National Ski Jump Competition, adding even more adrenaline to the weekend lineup.
Live Music and Entertainment:
Enjoy concerts under the summer sky with both local talent and nationally known bands taking the stage. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and settle in for a great evening of tunes by the water. Rhino performs on the 27th with Strange Daze and June 29th features the always popular Johnny Holm Band with Foster Grand.
Kids’ Activities and Clinics:
Young water enthusiasts can get a taste of the sport during the free “Get on the Water” clinic, where kids can try out skiing with the help of professionals. Plus, there’s a carnival, games, inflatables, and more to keep the little ones entertained all weekend long.
Parade and Classic Car Show:
Don’t miss the Water Ski Days Grand Parade—a fun-filled tradition featuring colorful floats, marching bands, and community groups. Vintage car lovers will also enjoy the classic car show showcasing vehicles from around the region.
Food, Shopping, and More:
Stroll through the arts and crafts fair featuring unique handmade goods from Minnesota artisans. Then grab a bite at food trucks and vendors offering everything from cheese curds and mini donuts to BBQ and fresh lemonade.
