Enjoy a fresh take on Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at Whimsy on stage now through August 9th at Circus Juventas in St. Paul!
Have you been to a Circus Juventas performance? This will be the third year my son and I have had the opportunity to go and the shows keep getting better and better! Circus Juventas is a youth circus school located in St. Paul. It’s easy to forget the performers are students– they are just that good! The talent is next level and they do an excellent job bringing the story to life!
Whimsy is on stage now under the big top through August 9th. It is a fresh take on the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory tale, weaving an interesting story of a magical chocolatier in-between talented circus acts. There was so much to see during this show, besides top notch acting and dancing, there were flips, balancing acts, juggling, trapeze, aerial silks, contortion and so much more. Many students of all ages work together to create this epic performance!
I also cannot forget to mention the wonderfully detailed set and props, they really transform the big top! The costuming is also marvelous. I loved seeing the familiar looks of the children who found golden tickets in the Willy Wonka chocolate bars and the elaborate and sparkly, over-the-top candy characters. I am always impressed with the attention to detail at the Circus Juventas shows!
I would highly recommend checking out Whimsy at Circus Juventas– it’s a perfect addition to your summer bucket list! There were so many times during the show that I was completely blown away. Every time I thought a section was the best, a new act started and I was impressed again! I would recommend Whimsy for all ages, but keep in mind the show does run almost 3 hours with a 20 minute intermission. There’s lots of tasty concessions available for purchase that are allowed into the big top so don’t worry about getting hungry during the show!
Circus Juventas performs in their own Big Top located at 1270 Montreal Ave Saint Paul, MN 55116. There’s very limited free parking in their parking lot, but lots of free on-street parking options close by. Whimsy tickets start at $25 and are selling quickly!
