Don’t miss your chance to see realistic and true-to-size Dinosaurs at Dinosaur World Live at Children’s Theatre Company! Running now through April 5th, 2026.
I have to admit, I wasn’t sure what to think of this show when I saw it on the season calendar at Children’s Theatre Company. I am not much of a puppet person and the thought of having only one actor on stage seemed boring. Boy was I wrong! Dinosaur World Live was amazing and I’d highly recommend everyone see it!
Dinosaur World Live is your chance to step into a world with dinos– that are both life-size and realistic. Miranda (played by Lizzie Burder) is fantastic and shares insights about the dinos you get to meet. There’s the herbivores– Brutus, the triceratops, baby Beatrice, Juliet, the Segnosaurus and Gertrude, the Giraffatitan. And then of course there are Carnivore meat eaters too: Orlando, a Mircoraptor, Titus, a gigantic T-Rex and Baby Tamora.
You might be thinking, dino puppets– cool, but these are absolutely amazing. Puppeteers literally become the dinosaurs various body parts and provide sounds to allow them to interact with Miranda. I honestly forgot at moments that they weren’t real. Watching the dinos move and learning more about them was extremely fascinating and I’m not even that into dinosaurs!
Throughout the show Miranda calls volunteers onto the stage to meet different dinosaurs. The night we saw the show there were 4 different kids called up to interact with the dinos. My son was super bummed that he wasn’t called to the stage, but at the end of the show everyone has a chance to meet Baby Tamora, the T-Rex. He said it was really cool to “pet” her!
Don’t forget to check out the activities in the lobby before or after the show. Activities include Everybody Walk Like a Dinosaur, a spinning wheel with different dino types and how they walked, Make Your Own Paperplate Dinosaur and a Jr Paleontologist search in the lobby, where you hunt for 5 dino fossil plates and then get a Jr Paleontologist stamp!
Dinosaur World Live runs 50 minutes with no intermission and it best for ages 3+. I will put a content warning on here though– I was scared during the section with the giant T-Rex. The lights lowered, there was extra fog and it was very overstimulating for me. You know your kids best if they would handle that section, but I’d recommend sitting back a little in the theatre if you think they would be scared.
At all performances, you’re welcome to request noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs, or take a break in their quiet room. There’s also a Sensory-Friendly performance on Sunday, March 29th at 11am and Friday, April 3rd at 7pm with reduced sound and lights.
Dinosaur World Live is on stage now through April 5th at Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis. Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased on their website. Lap passes are available for children 3 and under.
