Fig + Farro is one of those places that was on my “to visit” list and then this pandemic hit and that list fell by the way side, along with my hopes of being able to visit some of Minneapolis’ best restaurants. So, I was happy to hear that Fig + Farro re-opened this week for curbside pickup!
I picked up food from the new “Fig 2.0” curbside window and left with my car smelling so delicious I could barely wait to get home and dig into my bag of plant-based comfort food!
We started out with two appetizers – Fig + Farro’s famous buffalo cauliflower and yuca fries. While the cauliflower was awesome, we couldn’t get over how amazing the yuca is! It’s definitely our favorite yuca in the state of Minnesota. It’s served with a top notch chimichurri too.
While looking like a work of art, the Jerusalem plate features garlicky hummus garnished with tahini and surrounded by pickled and fresh veggies. It’s served with falafel balls and some amazingly delicious pita.
Last but not least, we had Chef Amalia’s Housemade Pasta, which varies from day to day. Today it was housemade tagliatelle pasta with chilled avocado and heirloom tomatoes, lemon, basil, garlic olive oil and scallions. Served on a bed of arugula.
I have to say that we loved everything. I was a good sibling and stopped at my sister’s house on the way home to share some of my food with her. She texted me to thank me and say she inhaled it. Yep, it was that was good.
The real indication of how good it was came from my husband’s reaction. He is definitely NOT a vegetable lover, but he loved Fig + Farro. I have to say I was shocked when he told me he was looking forward to ordering again. He may be a fan of vegetarian food yet!
