Does your student-athlete need a physical? Here are some locations that offer free high school sports physicals in Minnesota!

As summer gets into full swing, now is the time to plan ahead for fall as high school sports start up again! Chances are your student-athlete needs proof of a recent physical to be able to participate.
From July 22 – August 7, Twin Cities Orthopedics (TCO) is offering FREE high school sports physicals! Register online for your chosen date and location. Registration opens Monday, June 16. Clinics take place from 5 – 8 pm.

Dates and locations are as follows:
Hudson – July 22
Eagan – July 24
Brooklyn Park – July 28
Edina – July 30
Burnsville – August 4
Stillwater – August 4
Vadnais Heights – August 5
Waconia – August 5
Blaine – August 7
Plymouth – August 7
Twin Cities Orthopedics high school sports physicals are available at 10 Twin Cities metro area and western Wisconsin locations throughout the months of July and August. All TCO sports physicals exams are completed by primary care sports medicine physicians and orthopedic surgeons. Certified Athletic Trainers will review each student athlete’s medical history prior to seeing the physicians.
Spots fill up quickly, so register HERE as soon as possible starting June 16!

These dates and locations don’t work for you? Here are some other locations you can get a free high school sports physical in Minnesota:
Mayo Family Clinic Kasson
Free clinic for Dodge County students entering grades 7–12 in the Kasson-Mantorville, Hayfield and Triton school districts.
Kasson – June 18 from 4:30 – 6 pm

Ridgeview Medical
In past years, students entering grades 7 – 12 could get a free physical at several participating locations. We’ll update this post with more information if it becomes available – in the meantime, you can check their website here.
Summit Orthopedics
Free force plate testing will be offered to athletes at Woodlake (Woodbury) on July 15 and 23. There is a waiver on their website that you should sign and bring with you if you would like to participate.

They have also offered free clinics in July in past years.
TRIA
Every school year, TRIA offers free sports physicals to high school athletes. These are performed by sports medicine doctors or orthopedic surgeons.
Here are the dates and locations for 2025:
Maple Grove – July 29 from 5 – 8 pm
Burnsville – July 31 from 5 – 8 pm
Woodbury – August 5 from 5 – 8 pm
Bloomington – August 6 from 5 – 8 pm
Shakopee – August 7 from 5 – 8 pm

Welia Health
Free sports physicals for students in grades 7-12 – call to reserve your time slot.
Pine City – July 29 from 3 – 6 pm
Mora – July 31 from 3 – 6 pm

Lakewood Health System
If you’re local to Staples, mark your calendar for Tuesday, June 24 from 5 – 7 pm. Free sports physicals appointments will take place at TCO Staples – Therapy, located at The Plaza.

Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital
Exams are offered at no cost during Sports Physical Nights. Appointments are available for both college and high school athletes.
Grand Rapids – June 16, 17, and 18 from 5 – 7 pm
Appointments are required and are offered on a first come, first serve basis. Call to schedule an appointment (information here).
Pond Clinic
The Health Commons at Pond Center offers health and wellness care to Bloomington Schools students and families at no cost.
Bloomington – Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 – 6 pm
Appointments are preferred – please call 952-681-6277 to schedule an appointment. It appears that the clinic is closed until August 4, so I recommend calling in advance.
CMH Raiter Family Clinic
CMH Raiter Family Clinic is offering free sports physicals to local middle school, high school, or collegiate-level athletes.
Cloquet – August 6 from 4:30 – 6 pm

M Health Fairview Clinics
Fairview has offered free sports physicals in the past, but we’re not seeing any information for that yet for 2025. We’ll update with that information if it becomes available.
Where Else Can I Get a Sports Physical?
If for some reason these dates/times don’t work for you, don’t fret! LOTS of places offer sports physicals for a minimal cost, and your insurance may cover it, as well.
Here are some options I found:
ChiroCenter Long Lake – $39
CVS Minute Clinic – $76
These are just ones with prices listed; I found many more. Just about any urgent care service offers sports physicals and will be your insurance or you can pay out of pocket. And of course, you should be able to schedule with your regular provider.
