Harriet Alexander Nature Center is a 52 acre nature preserve and nature center that’s free to explore in Roseville.
There is nothing I enjoy more than finding a hidden gem, and I do believe I’ve found a good one in Harriet Alexander Nature Center in Roseville! Did you know there are 52 acres of a nature preserve + a fun nature center that’s free to explore right in Roseville? My daughter and I visited for the first time last week and we were so impressed!
The day we went to explore it was a bit cold so we mostly enjoyed the inside of the Nature Center. There’s so much to do! My daughter’s absolute favorite thing in the nature center was the pretend campsite! She spent quite a bit of time pretending to camp in the tent and making food by the “campfire.” The camping site is a toddlers dream play area!
We also loved visiting the resident turtles, frog and snake. There was a puppet show area with lots of local animal puppets to put on a show, awesome nature books by the fireplace, pictures to color with crayons, lots of nature-based toys and so much more.
As a toddler, she wasn’t super into the exhibits but I can’t wait to go back to visit this summer with my older kiddos. There were interesting displays on animal bones, fur, bees and more. And of course we had to check out the boardwalk area before we got too cold. We saw and heard lots of birds, frogs and insects. It was very fun!
There’s ample parking next to the nature center and across the street. Just make sure to take the path in the back of the parking lot to the nature center, we accidentally walked into the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center when we went, which was cool but not what we were looking for!
The Harriet Alexander Nature Center is located at 2520 Dale St N in Roseville. It’s open 6 days a week, 10am- 4pm Tuesday through Saturday, 1-4pm on Sunday and closed Monday. They also have a variety of youth programming, nature camps and adult craft classes. You can find more information on their website.
