Step into the life of Julia Child at this brand new exhibit at the Minnesota History Center. Open now through May 31st, 2026!

Julia Child A Recipe for Life exhibit.

I have to admit, I didn’t know a lot about Julia Child before I visited this new exhibit at the Minnesota History Center, but it was quite interesting to learn about her journey from childhood through her transformation to a culinary icon. Julia was a force and I loved learning about her authentic and joyful self through this exhibit!

Now open through May 31st, 2026, Julia Child: A Recipe for Life is an immersive and interactive exhibit all about the iconic chef. You can literally step onto a re-created set of her famous TV show– The French Chef, pose for a picture in the bathtub like Julia and her husband Paul did for Valentine’s Day, page through a gigantic version of Mastering the Art of French Cooking and more.

This exhibit is informative and super interactive. You can learn about the recipes that make Julia Child famous and actually “smell” them! Then don’t miss your chance to “experience” an authentic french meal- not only can you learn about the recipes, you can even spend time skill building to make your own culinary mealtime a success!

Minnesota Cooks exhibit.

Rounding out the exhibit is Minnesota Cooks: Small Bites from the Collections. Learn about Minnesota cooking from vintage cookbooks from the Minnesota Historical Society’s collection along with vintage ephemera. I spied a lot of vintage Jolly Green Giant, Betty Crocker and more!

Walking through this section of the exhibit made me think of my grandmas and brought back many happy memories of my childhood spent cooking with them in their kitchens.
