The monsters are back and better than ever at Minnesota Children’s Museum Monsters on Vacation special exhibit open now through January 10th, 2027!
I was so excited when we got the invite to check out the Monsters on Vacation exhibit at Minnesota Children’s Museum! Nothing screams the start of a summer than a day spent there, especially when there’s a fun special exhibit to check out. We had a great time visiting this exhibit two summers ago and I’m happy to share it’s back and better than ever!
It seems like a silly concept, but Monsters on Vacation is great fun and learning for kids. There’s lots of large motor activities like an obstacle course, a light-up dance floor; social awareness activities where kids have to work together to feed the “tree monster,” and many opportunities to talk about feelings. A personal favorite of my kiddos was the scream booth, because sometimes we all want to scream!
This exhibit is a great example of both fun and learning. Kids have ample opportunities to run, explore and be silly, while also learning to work together and express their feelings!
The fun doesn’t end in the Monsters on Vacation exhibit! The fun continues a monster puppet craft in The Studio and a Monster Playground in The Landing. It was a lot of fun to see the theme around the whole museum!
Don’t forget to pack your sunscreen and hats– the outdoor spaces are officially open and tons of fun at the Minnesota Children’s Museum! On the first floor is The Backyard– think tons of exploration: musical instruments, hula hoops, large pool noodles, the possibilities are endless for kiddos and parents can sit back and relax! The Tip Top Terrace on the 4th floor has a bit more shade with a large frame house alongside a sensory garden, percussive musical instruments and a fun view of St. Paul.
