The Parade of Boats takes place this weekend in Edina.

Love model boats and looking for a unique way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon in the Twin Cities? Head to Centennial Lakes Park in Edina this Sunday, June 8 from 10 am – 4 pm for the annual Parade of Boats – a free, family-friendly event hosted by the Edina Model Yacht Club.
You’ll see dozens of scale model boats in all sizes gliding across the park’s central pond. These impressive vessels include everything from sailboats and tugboats to yachts, battle ships and paddleboats.
Many of the watercraft are handcrafted and detailed to look like the real thing with intricate details like a miniature captain behind the wheel and some are built to be historically accurate. Other boats are more whimsical creations, including some designed to fit in with favorite kids characters like Minions and Mr. Potato Head.

Whether you’re a boating enthusiast or just curious to see something different, the Parade of Boats is a fun way to spend time outdoors. You can stroll along the walkways of Centennial Lakes Park and watch the boats from various viewpoints around the lake.
Before the Parade of Boats begins, participating boats will be on display in the Hughes Pavilion from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with some boats not in the parade remaining on display inside the pavilion during the event.
