A Year With Frog and Toad is a fun and joyous show running now through June 16th at Children’s Theatre Company!
I am feeling a bit spoiled by the Children’s Theatre Company, every time I think the last show we see cannot be beat- another amazing production comes along and becomes my favorite. A Year With Frog and Toad is no exception!
I remember reading the “Frog and Toad” books by Arnold Lobel as a child, but my son, age 7, has never read them before. It didn’t matter at all- you don’t need to have knowledge of the books to follow along with this joyous and fun look at a year of friendship with Frog and Toad.
A Year With Frog and Toad is exactly what you think it is: an in-depth and personal look at a year of friendship between Frog and Toad. They embark on many adventures together, including gardening, baking, swimming, sledding and more throughout the calendar year.
It’s a great show for all ages, clocking in a little under two hours with an intermission. The music is clever and interesting to listen to, while the choreography, scenic design and costumes keep your eyes peeled and alert.
Children’s Theatre Company always has the best resources for families. You can check out their Audience Resource Guide here for details on the show including content advisories, behind the scenes facts, activities and more. As a theatre company, they are really thinking about art as a conversation tool for children and families. It’s amazing!
Did you know A Year With Frog and Toad made it’s world premiere right here at CTC back in 2002? Then it eventually went to Broadway where it was nominated for three Tony Awards, including best musical!
A Year With Frog and Toad will mark Peter C. Brosius last production as Artistic Director. While it is hard to see such a talent retire, I know Children’s Theatre Company will continue to create amazing new works and inspire children (and parents alike) throughout the Twin Cities and beyond!
A Year With Frog and Toad runs now through June 16th at Children’s Theatre Company. Tickets prices start at $15 online. Certain performances are already sold out, so I wouldn’t wait too long to grab your tickets to this production!
