Spend a night outside looking up at the stars at Split Rock Lighthouse.
Tuesday, August 8 is Dark Sky Night at Split Rock Lighthouse in Two Harbors. This FREE event is a perfect opportunity to look at the stars above Split Rock Lighthouse!
The event takes place from 8 – 11 pm, run by the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium staff.
The night will start off with a screening of Northern Nights, Starry Skies. This 60 minute documentary celebrates the star-bright sky, dark sky places, indigenous star knowledge, and stewardship to the night sky.
Enjoy looking at the stars through telescopes and live tours of the night sky. If it’s cloudy, they will still have fun activities and digital sky tours so you can learn what to look for when it clears up. Be sure to pack bug spray and a headlamp, and dress appropriately for the weather.
This is just one of five Star Party stops the Planetarium staff is making on their Dark Sky Caravan. Mark your calendars for the other events:
