Experience the City of Lakes from the water with FREE drop-in canoeing!
Have you wanted to bring your family out on the water, but do not own the right equipment? Now is your chance to try canoeing for FREE in Minneapolis this summer. Everything you need will be provided at no cost!
Get a fresh view of the City of Lakes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays this summer with free drop-in canoeing from 5 – 7 pm at Powderhorn Lake (Tuesdays) and Loring Pond (Wednesdays). No registration is required. Powderhorn Lake dates run through August 29th and Loring Pond dates run through August 30th.
At this event, you will learn paddling techniques and safety tips from trained Canoe Instructors. Then, you will set out to explore the water at your own pace. Canoes, life vests, and paddles are provided. The suggested age for this activity is 4 years and older. Children ages 12 and younger should have a parent or guardian present.
Powderhorn Lake
Powderhorn Lake is located within Powderhorn Park, at 3400 15th Ave. South in Minneapolis. The park covers over 65 acres, including a little more than 11 acres of water. This location is also known for its Art Sled Rally and Arts Festival.
Loring Pond
Loring Pond is located within the Loring Park, at 1382 Willow Street in Minneapolis. Covering over 30 acres, Loring Park is home to biking and walking paths that wind around the Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway.
