The Lake Harriet Winter Kite Festival is a favorite tradition each year, and we’re excited that it’s back in action in 2023!
Look up and surround yourself with colorful kites flying over Lake Harriet in Minneapolis on Saturday, January 28 from 12 pm – 4 pm during the 21st Annual Lake Harriet Winter Kite Festival.
Search the skies near the bandshell, on the north end of the lake for this outdoor, family friendly event. Fly a kite of your own, purchase a kite to fly, watch as many kites fill the sky, or participate in the many activities planned for you to enjoy.
The Kite Festival is a beautiful festival that fills the sky with colorful kites, offers winter activities for all, delicious local food trucks, music, and free s’mores by the fire to warm up throughout the day. New to the event this year will be an interactive kids DJ.
This weekend is also an opportunity to see Art Shanty Projects since they are also taking place beachside along Lake Harriet. Looking for more information about the Art Shanty Projects? We wrote up a post with everything you need to know here!
Please note that the Lake Harriet Parking Lot will be closed to vehicle traffic, so please consider taking the shuttle from the Calhoun Executive Center (3033 Excelsior Blvd). Three school buses will run continually from 11 am – 5 pm on Saturday, January 28th. The Metro Transit 6 bus line also has stops about three blocks from the west side of the lake.
