Don’t miss your chance to see this World Premiere Musical about Minnesota Twins hero, Joe Mauer. The Right Thing to Do: The Joe Mauer Story is on stage now through May 10th!
I absolutely love taking my kids to musicals, but it’s even more fun when our favorite things collide: musicals and baseball! You might think it’s ad odd combo, but in The Right Thing to Do: The Joe Mauer Story at Stages Theatre Company it totally works!
The Right Thing to Do: The Joe Mauer Story is based on the kids book by Joe Schmit. The story follows a young Joe Mauer in his childhood and his teenage years. It’s a compelling story about kindness and how doing the right thing goes a long way!
A young Joe learns from his dad that doing the right thing is always important, and he keeps that thought with him into high school when he befriends Mike, a classmate who is blind. Joe realizes that they have a lot in common, including their love for baseball! While the message of friendship is deep, the songs are catchy and light-hearted. My son and I really enjoyed this musical and we both loved learning more about Joe Mauer’s life!
The Right Thing to Do: The Joe Mauer Story runs 60 minutes without intermission. We saw lots of younger kiddos there– this would be a good show to bring your youngest! There are options to buy lap passes for kiddos under 3 or you can grab a seat booster to place on your child’s chair.
I always want to highlight the Audience Resource Guide. Stages Theatre Company does a great job of putting together resources for parents, families and schools. Inside the guide, you can find a synopsis, behind the scenes, info about the book and much, much more! The Audience Resource Guide is available on the Stages Theatre Company website.
