With the Xcel Energy Refrigerator Recycling Program you can get $50 for your old refrigerator or freezer…and they’ll pick it up from your home!
Getting a new refrigerator can save you money in the long run! Refrigerators 15 years or older use twice as much energy as new ENERGY STAR® refrigerators, which means you could save $50 per year or more on your electricity bill by replacing an old refrigerator with a new ENERGY STAR model.
Those savings are even better when Xcel Energy gives you $50 for your old fridge!
Got an old, but still functioning fridge or freezer to get rid of? The Xcel Energy Refrigerator Recycling Program will give you a $50 rebate for it!
To participate in the program, you must:
- Be an Xcel Energy residential electric customer living in Minnesota
- Have an account number
- Own an operational* 10-30 cubic foot refrigerator/freezer to be picked up from the address listed on your account
*Appliance must be in working order (e.g., cooling and/or freezing and the ability to make ice) and clean when inspected at the time of pickup.
Schedule an outdoor pickup appointment for free. It will need to be picked up from your garage, driveway, backyard, or another location. Indoor pickup is available by special request.
AND if you’re scheduling an outdoor pickup appointment, you can also have them pick up your window or room AC unit and/or dehumidifier. You won’t get a rebate for any of these items, but it’s nice to have them disposed of for free if needed.
Xcel will pick up your refrigerator or freezer and recycle it for free. Within six weeks after pickup, you’ll receive a $50 rebate check in the mail.
